Curly and wavy lace wigs need tender loving care. More maintenance is required for curly hair and If you are a fist time lace wig wearer we suggest that you start out with a straight or wavy unit. Below you will find some tips that will aid you in maintaining your curly hair piece and help extend the life of your unit. If you do not care for your unit properly, you may cause irreversible damage to it!
DO NOT use heavy greasy products that will weight the hair down.
When washing your curly hair unit, place it on a Styrofoam head and secure it by using T-Pins. Wet the hair and spray a mixture of shampoo and water onto the hair. DO NOT swish it around in the water and DO NOT wash it upside down, as this may cause matting and tangling.
After shampooing, apply a generous amount of conditioner and finger comb the hair. You should start at the ends and gently work your way up. If there are any tangled areas, apply more conditioner to those areas and comb through with a wide tooth comb. Always comb hair from the ends and gradually work your way up until all tangles are removed.
To deep-condition, remove all tangles and place your unit in a plastic bag. Let it sit for a half an hour, then rinse thoroughly. You should give curly wigs regular deep conditioner treatments. We recommend that you include Nearly Naturals Softening Solution in your deep conditioning process. It is applied on the hair prior to the application of your conditioner to give extra moisture to hair and renew softness.
Do not brush curly or wavy hair, as the hair will frizz. Use Nearly Naturals Frizz Control Serum to control frizz.
DO moisturize curly hair lightly when needed by spraying it with a mixture of 70%water and 30% glycerin. This will refresh the curls and keep the hair moisturized. Nearly Naturals Moisture Mist is another great leave-in conditioning treatment for curly hair.
DO NOT use products containing alcohol.
DO NOT blow dry curly or wavy hair.
DO NOT flatiron or press curly hair too often, as this will diminish the curl pattern over time. Always use a low heat setting when you flat-iron or curl the hair.
Do store your wig on a Styrofoam or mannequin head when you are not wearing it. Be sure to always cover your wig with hair netting when not in use
